Description
A Heat Advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. on Friday.
Temperatures climb back to the middle 90s by Tuesday afternoon, with heat indices returning to the lower 100s. That heat and humidity will once again bring potential for severe thunderstorms for much of the region. These storms will mostly contain strong winds and small hail.
The hottest days of the week will be Thursday-Saturday, as our heat dome will sit right on top of us. With high pressure aloft, the likelihood of rain and storms will be small later this week.
Make sure you are planning to take breaks inside and in the air conditioning frequently. For every hour of outside activity plan on taking a break inside for at least 15 to 30 minutes.
Because of the high humidity with this heat, it can make it hard for your body to cool off on its own but staying hydrated and taking plenty of breaks will help you stay comfortable.
Also, as we approach the first day of summer on Thursday, keep in mind the sun angle is the highest it'll be all year. This means that sunburn can occur in as little as 15-20 minutes or so.
Next week, long-range models indicate cooler weather along with better rain chances.
