A pair of masked assailants attacked four people with baseball bats, apparently at random, alongside Oceanside Harbor over the weekend, leaving them seriously injured, authorities said Monday. Patrol officers responding to reports of an assault shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday found two of the victims suffering from head trauma in the 1400 block of North Harbor Drive, according to police. Witnesses reported that the assailants appeared to be attacking random passersby, police said. The perpetrators also confronted a bystander and tried to steal her cellphone, which she had been using to record video of the violence.
