Description
Following a record-setting heat wave, San Diego County enjoyed a mild, comfortable summer weekend as did much of the western United States. Coastal clouds continued along the water that pulled back relatively fast through the a.m. stretch and then brought the coast into the 70s each afternoon. 80s were common inland with some showers and thunderstorms over the mountains and deserts.
This same trend kicked off this new week. Expect temperatures near normal and sunshine each afternoon after marine layer clouds recede. The start of the week still holds the potential for monsoonal moisture to produce a few downpours. Cumulus clouds developed over the mountains with the heating of the day on Monday. This gave way to pockets of heavy rain prompting flood advisories over the mountains and desert on Monday. The alerts expired by before 6:00 p.m.
Lingering monsoonal moisture will lead to a chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday favoring the mountains by the afternoon and evening hours.
