Description
Thursday marks the start of the summer season. Meteorologically speaking, the Summer months are June, July and August. Astronomically speaking, another sign of Summer starting is the Summer Solstice. It will be at 1:50 p.m. Sunrise will be at 5:41 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:59 p.m., giving 14 hours and 18 minutes of daylength.
Temperatures are also warming on Thursday in San Diego County, bringing many cities to the average (and in some cases slightly above average) range. Additional warming will boost temperatures daily through the weekend, with heat increasing the farther east you are. Through next week, temperatures are likely to continue to exceed average with only minor cooling. While the marine layer is present each morning, it doesn't stretch as far east as it has in the last several weeks, and continues to yield sunshine -- even along the coast -- as early as 8 and 9 a.m. each day.
