Description
October 1, 1965, Balboa Stadium
In an action-packed night of prep football the Kearny High Komets went after their 23rd consecutive win tonight with Bill Bolden the Komets CIF player of the year leading his club against the Grossmont Foothillers in Balboa Stadium. On the first play from scrimmage Gary Hancock of Grossmont got off this 25-yard run to Kearny’s 19-yard line…but the Komets Bobby Johnson got the first touchdown of the night on this run captured by our cameraman Carl Gilman. That was the beginning of a 25-point scoring effort by Kearny as they beat Grossmont 25-0. That ties the record of 23 consecutive victories rung up by Ramona in the 1958-59 seasons…and surpasses Grossmont’s own winning streak of 22.
