090366 MOONLIGHT BEACH
Moonlight State Beach in Encinitas has been re-opened in time for the holiday weekend crowds.
It had been closed for 12 days because of contamination from a ruptured sewer line.
County health officials yesterday lifted the ban on swimming and surfing at the North County beach after tests showed that the bacteria content of the water was back to normal.
A small strip of the beach is the only part remaining closed.
It’s the area near the mouth of Cottonwood Creek, which had carried the sewage out to sea.
