Description
Volunteers fanned out across Southeast San Diego Monday morning trying to help flood victims clean their homes and salvage their belongings.
"It's hard, I'm born and raised here," said Armon Harvey, founder of the Harvey Family Foundation. "I live up the street. I knew once this happened, my street was affected as well. Fortunately, my house wasn't, but we just had to jump into action."
Harvey said since Tuesday, volunteers have been working to help flood victims. He said people have been taking off work to volunteer their time. He said the group includes contractors and carpenters who are going into homes to assess the damage and help repair what they can.
Harvey is partnering with the Jackie Robinson YMCA on Imperial Avenue. They are collecting donations including food, clothing and supplies. He said they are still in need of everything.
