Description
December 1976
The Natural History Museum Whale Watching Excursion. Dr. Raymond Gilmore, an authority on the gray whale, led the sea trips. He said, “we’re destroying a lot of our environment and that’s got to stop or one of these days, it will all be gone.” Every year gray whales make the trek from the Bering Straits to Baja California. It’s 4,000 miles and the migration is from December through February. Anchor/reporter Dick Carlson brought his sons Tucker and Buckley along on this fun assignment...yes, that Tucker Carlson.
The museum still offers the excursions: https://www.sdnhm.org/education/whale-watching-with-the-museum/?fbclid=IwAR2ZvWs-NnQnVrzt9sZazCrKMml7fdKtBFlJeH1J6M6X0nebQbqGm82KpvM
