In ceremonies at the Hilton Hotel this afternoon Lincoln High School retired its first football jersey. It’s number 9 worn by quarterback and All-America defensive back Marcus Allen. Vic Player, coach of the CIF Hornets, said it was rare to have a team as good as his was. Allen is a 6-3 185-pound senior who ran and passed for more than 2500 yards this year—and 21 touchdowns. As a defensive back—11 interceptions, 4 touchdowns, 96 unassisted tackles. His record five touchdowns led Lincoln past Kearny 34-6 in the CIF title game. It still isn’t known where Marcus will go to college or what position he’ll play but it’s likely we haven’t heard the last from this talented young athlete.
