December 13, 1977 On December 12, 1977 TV 8 launched a series called San Diego Night Live on the 11pm newscast. On the second night anchor Tom Lawrence tossed to Dave Cohen reporting from one of the "swingingest' places in town 'Crystal T's Emporium." The nightclub was only nine months old and was hopping even on a Tuesday night. Dave talked to waiters dressed up as Groucho and Harpo Marx and various other club-goers. One lady said she went 3-4 nights a week--even though she worked at 6 am! Disc jockey Jim Allen said they played the best music--naturally--and disco of course. Great job TV 8--amazing technology on display--this live shot on day 2 went remarkably well, and now in 2022, we can enjoy it.
