Description
March 24, 1992
This is a throwback from 1992! Thirty years ago, Lorraine Kimel and photojournalist Ben Cutshall dug into the film archive of 1952 to explore what was going on in San Diego forty years prior. There was a house fire, a spelling bee at Woodrow Wilson Junior High, San Diego State homecoming, a new Convair Liner 340, and heavy rains. This is special because it wasn’t very often that film was retrieved because the process was tedious and very few employees knew how to convert it. Today, we rely on the talents of Pea Hicks and his modern scanner. Film digitized now looks a lot crisper and clearer—even though the film itself is much older now.
