The City of Seattle held its first-ever council committee Thursday focused solely on weathering the policy changes coming down from President Donald Trump's administration.
This comes as many leaders across the nation are being swayed by the influence of the Trump administration. In California, Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom said Thursday morning he's breaking from his party on the topic of trans competitors in sports.
It's among the many reasons why the LGBTQIA+ community in Seattle made passionate pleas to Seattle City Council members Thursday. About 25 people attended the first portion of the meeting, which focused on LGBTQIA+ and reproductive rights.
