Description
Tsuru for Solidarity, a nonprofit organization that aims to close detention centers and support immigrants and refugees, says it has been closely monitoring flights arriving and departing from Boeing Field that transport undocumented immigrants detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The organization said they have seen a significant increase in the number of people being transported in restraints.
On Sunday, Stanley Shikuma, a member of Tsuru for Solidarity, said he witnessed 110 detainees coming off one of these flights — the highest number the group has ever seen at that point.
"They put chains, shackles on their wrists that are chained to their waist so they can only move their hands about six inches in any direction," Shikuma said. "They have shackles on their legs from one ankle to the other."
