Description
In a landmark decision, the Washington State Court of Appeals has ruled that Washington State University (WSU) bears responsibility for the 2019 alcohol-related death of a freshman student, marking the first time a university has been held accountable for a hazing-related fatality in the state.
“When I found out, I had tears in my eyes because [this means] justice,” said Hector Martinez, the father of the student who died. “When I heard this I thought ‘Yes, now you cannot say you were not responsible for my [son’s death].’”
