A suspect is dead after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement in Spanaway Tuesday, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department. The incident began when the suspect fired shots at Washington State Patrol troopers who tried to pull him over for a traffic stop on Interstate 5. The suspect led the WSP and other agencies who responded on a short car chase to the area of 6th Avenue and 205th Street. Once the suspect and law enforcement arrived in the neighborhood, the suspect fired more shots at law enforcement, who returned fire.
