A teenager who was shot near Garfield High School in Seattle on Thursday afternoon after attempting to break up a fight between two other people has died, according to police. The Seattle Police Department (SPD) said despite life-saving efforts, the 17-year-old student died at Harborview Medical Center. Police said in a social media post on X just after 12:30 p.m. that officers were investigating a shooting in the 400 block of 23rd Avenue. A 17-year-old boy was taken to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition where he later died, according to police.
