The state was the first to give a closing argument in the trial of three Tacoma police officers charged in the death of Manuel Ellis, a 33-year-old Black man who died in police custody in March of 2020. All three defense teams will present closing arguments, then the state will have one final chance to rebut before the jury deliberates.
