Description
Seattle Public Utilities is preparing for potential urban flooding in light of this week's forecasted atmospheric river.
"We've restocked our sandbags in all of our key areas at all of our neighborhood community points," said Ray Brown, Division Director for SPU Drainage and Wastewater Systems. "We've increased our staffing to cover our off-shift hours [as] our communities, they're going to want to see our folks out there being responsive, out there clearing drains."
Brown warns drivers not to go through ponded areas if possible. In general, drive slower during the morning and evening commutes, and be cautious if passing crews out clearing areas.
