Description
In this week's Prep Zone, KING 5's Chris Egan has the story of Skyline's dynamic duo breaking records and taking titles in track, cross country.
Skyline High School senior Anna Callahan knows what it takes to win.
Last year as a junior, Callahan not only won the state's 4A championship, but she also won a regional championship, took home state titles at the in the 800 meter and 1600 meter races, and was named Gatorade's Girls Cross Country Player of the Year.
A week ago, Callahan posted the fifth-fastest time in the country running the 5K (3.1 miles) in 16:43. She also runs the mile in 4:41.
Next fall, she's off to Duke University, but she says she'll miss Skyline — and especially her teammate senior Rebecca O'Keefe.
O'Keefe placed third in last year's championships. Her mile time clocks in at 4:41, and she won a state title in the 3200 meter last season.
