Crews are continuing to put out hotspots after a three-alarm brush fire in the area of Fort Steilacoom Park near Waughop Lake. SkyKING video shows a charred burn scar in the impacted area of the park. The fire threatened surrounding neighborhoods for a period of time Wednesday afternoon, according to the Lakewood Police Department. Residents within a five-mile area were told to evacuate by West Pierce Fire & Rescue. The evacuation is not mandatory, according to the City of Lakewood. About 40 homes were threatened by the fire.
