A recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed that maternal deaths in the United States spiked in 2021. For Black women, the risk is even higher. They are two to three times more likely to die than white women. The untimely death of three-time Olympic medalist Tori Bowie this spring reignited the conversation.
