Description
The gap in the homeownership rate between Black and white families in the U.S. is bigger today than when it was legal to refuse to sell someone a home because of the color of their skin, according to data from the Urban Institute.
The percentage of Black people who own homes in Washington state is 31.1%, well below the national average of 42.6% and less than half of the white homeownership rate in Washington state, which sits at 64%.
