"It was very emotional, I have to say I even cried from emotion," says Dora Moncada, one of those gathered at the Vatican, where Pope Francis on Sunday made a surprise appearance at a mass dedicated to the sick and healthcare workers. "He was healthy, so we were pleased," says Gabriella Grossi. The 88-year-old pontiff left hospital just two weeks ago after a life-threatening health scare, having been admitted to Rome's Gemelli hospital on February 14 and treated for a serious case of pneumonia.
