"We got used to it," says 15-year-old Bogdan Masliy of the years of war that haunt young lives in eastern Ukraine. He still remembers the fighting that broke out in Sloviansk, his hometown, in 2014, before the Ukrainian army routed the separatists. That frozen conflict ground on until February 2022, when Russia launched its full-scale invasion. To begin with, Masliy "didn't take it seriously," but "somewhere in the middle...I became very afraid". Masliy is part of a youth centre, taking part in activities with other local teenagers.
