Since Bulgaria and Romania fully joined Europe's Schengen open-borders zone in January, the Bulgarian city of Rousse, on the border with Romania, has seen a notable rise in traffic, say officials. Some business owners are delighted by this trend. "Our entry into Schengen has had quite a positive impact on our city because there are significantly more tourists and, as you can see, the visits become much higher with Romanians, especially during the holidays," says Todor Ratsov, a restaurant manager.
