Description
Minnesota parents and advocates are asking the legislature to bar the practice of isolating children who act out at school, which happens most often to children with physical and mental disabilities, disproportionately with children of color.
A coalition made up of The Arc of Minnesota, Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid, and the Multicultural Autism Action Network is pressing the case at the State Capitol to end seclusion. Although state law requires schools to notify parents their children have been placed in seclusion, many aren't told and only discover it in other ways.
