Description
Tensions boiled over in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday evening during President Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress. Houston Rep. Al Green was removed from the House chamber after repeatedly challenging the president on cuts to Medicaid.
“I want him (Trump) to know his budget calls for deep cuts on Medicaid. He needs to save Medicaid, protect it. We need to raise the cap on Social Security. There is a possibility it is going to be hurt. We’ve got to protect Medicare. These are the safety net programs that people in my congressional district depend on,” Green said.
KHOU 11 Investigative Reporter Cheryl Mercedes called on two sources to Verify whether Trump’s budget calls for deep cuts on Medicaid -- the FY 2025 House Budget Committee resolution and University of Houston Political Science Professor Brandon Rottinghaus.
He said he could not Verify whether Congressman Green’s statement was factual on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
