Tropical Storm Alberto is the first named storm of the 2024 hurricane season after forming in the Gulf of Mexico, according to the National Hurricane Center. Tropical Storm Alberto is expected to make landfall in Central Mexico on Thursday morning. The NHC said Potential Tropical Cyclone One formed into Alberto at 9:48 a.m. Wednesday. The storm will not make landfall anywhere near Houston but will send some rain to Southeast Texas. Tropical Storm Alberto is moving west-southwest at 13 mph with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph. It is projected to make landfall in Tampico, Mexico late early Thursday morning.
