Jan. 31 on The Story: For small family-owned farms, the business isn't getting any easier. Between new regulations, rising labor costs and tightening immigration restrictions, farmers in Clark County feel they're beset on all sides. Many farms in Washington have already shut down, particularly the state's iconic apple orchards. Now, one state lawmaker is trying to pass several bills to help the agricultural industry, but it's too soon to tell whether they'll make it through — or if they'll be enough.
