Description
Dec. 3 on The Story: The most contaminated worksite in America is located not far from the Columbia River in southeastern Washington. Even though the site itself is decommissioned, the federal government still pays millions to keep it safely maintained. But according to the U.S. Department of Justice, one of their biggest contractors at the site engaged in a scheme to defraud the feds — billing full days for work that was sporadic at best. A whistleblower who filed a complaint against the company spoke to our sister station KING 5 in Seattle, saying he was in disbelief about how he was getting paid to do nothing on the taxpayer's dime.
