Oct. 11 on The Story: Earlier this week, we fact-checked a pair of political attack ads on either side of the competitive race for Oregon's 5th Congressional District, where Democrat Janelle Bynum is challenging Republican Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer. Now we're heading back, by popular demand. A number of viewers asked us about a different ad targeting Chavez-DeRemer, this one making a very specific claim that she voted 26 times against Social Security and Medicare. Those are important programs to a lot of people, so the answer could impact how some voters cast their ballots. We decided to dive in and get to the bottom of that claim.
