Aug. 27 on The Story: For several years now, The Story has been reporting on Oregon's efforts to entice more tech manufacturing to the state — something that gathered a lot more steam after President Joe Biden signed the $280 billion CHIPS and Science Act into law. Over the past few months, those efforts have been paying off. Today, state and federal officials revealed that Hewlett Packard's facility in Corvallis will be yet another destination for investments in Oregon's semiconductor industry. Even if HP is best known for its printers and computers, there's a particular field that the company has staked out for future tech, known as microfluidics. Tonight, we explain what HP is expecting to get and what it hopes to do with the investment.
