Description
June 3 on The Story: First thing next year, Portland's city government will look almost unrecognizable. There'll be a new mayor, a new 12-person city council, six new service areas comprised of the old bureaus and over them a professional city administrator with six deputies. But all that change can't possibly happen overnight. Starting with the new budget in July, Portland will begin a sort of "soft launch" for that system, as it attempts to break down the walls of the siloed bureaus and begins running under the new structure. Heading all of that up is Michael Jordan, interim city administrator. We asked him to walk us through what city employees can expect as they go into work July 1.
