Description
A Gresham, Oregon woman was robbed in her driveway after returning home from the ATM. Ring surveillance video from March 8 shows a woman approach Chitta Nix and tell her that she dropped something blocks away at an ATM on Northeast 181st Avenue.
The woman then asked to use Nix’s phone. When Nix declines, the woman began to walk away, before lurching toward Nix’s car, opening the driver side door and grabbing her purse.
Inside the purse was $500 from the ATM, as well as credit cards, medication and a gold bracelet Nix’s mother gave to her.

“I cannot get out of the house,” Nix said. “I’m scared.”
Her daughter said she was shocked someone would follow Nix home from the ATM, with the intent to rob her.
“Violated,” Jen Soutavong said. “I mean they followed my mom home from the ATM. You know, she was just doing her regular routine.”
After posting video of the incident online, Soutavong said she has heard from others in Gresham who have had similar incidents happen to them.
“We learned that this is called bank-jugging. People hang out at banks and target folks that are taking money out of the ATM or coming out of banks,” Soutavong said. “And they just follow them to rob them.”
