On Monday, the Sunshine Division continued its tradition, handing out Thanksgiving meals to families in need. This year, though, it was clear how many families in the Portland area need a little more help. Kyle Camberg, executive director with the Sunshine Division, said volunteers handed meals out to more than 1,600 families. That’s a new record, according to Camberg, who said last year that number was around 1,000 families. The Sunshine Division is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. It’s been a long-time nonprofit in Portland that works with the Portland Police to provide clothing and meals for families in need. Volunteers will continue handing out meals Tuesday and Wednesday at both of the Sunshine Division’s locations at 687 North Thompson Street and the one on 12436 Southeast Stark Street.
