Description
Sept. 29 on The Story: We've talked before about Johnson v. Grants Pass, the second of two influential court cases decided at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals that have shaped what policies cities in the Western U.S. can adopt to restrict homeless camping. Unsatisfied with the outcome, the city of Grants Pass has petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to take up the case — and overturn it, they hope. Now groups that support and oppose the city's push are coming out of the woodwork, and some of the results are surprising. Influential figures from both the liberal and conservative sides of the political spectrum are backing Grants Pass in its bid to see those protections for homeless campers tossed out.
