Teams will face off in the PDX Adult Soapbox Derby on Aug. 19. KGW Sunrise got a preview of the fun on Friday. The event started in the summer of 1997. Each year, dozens of teams built gravity soapbox cars that can go as fast as 50 mph. The soapbox derby is free for people to attend, but donations are need.
