May 10, 2023 on The Story: Before staging a walkout that brought business in the Oregon Senate to a halt last week, Republican lawmakers were up in arms about one bill in particular — House Bill 2002. Broadly speaking, it's a bill supported by Democrats that would expand access to abortion and gender-affirming care. And to those Republican lawmakers, it's apparently objectionable enough to scuttle the session over. So what's actually in the bill, and why are Democrats insisting it pass? Tonight we're taking a closer look at the bill and the often-inscrutable Oregon laws on reproductive rights that it seeks to change.
