Description
Feb. 13, 2023 on The Story: Every 42 minutes there is a report of vandalism in Portland — often involving broken windows. Some storefronts have been hit repeatedly. And the problem has been getting worse over the last few years: There were more reports of broken windows and vandalism in Portland last year than during the violent protests of 2020. And it's not easy to say who is responsible for the vandalism, because very few cases result in an arrest. We do know that relatively few reports are due to politically-motivated destruction. Most cases appear to be random, the apparent result of mental illness or drug use. KGW senior investigative reporter Kyle Iboshi takes a closer look at Portland's vandalism problem.
