Description
Feb. 6, 2023 on The Story: Nearly 30 years ago, a woman named Susi Larsen disappeared just weeks before her wedding. She'd been murdered. Investigators eventually charged Billy Lee Oatney Jr., an acquaintance of Larsen's, with the killing. A jury convicted Oatney, and he spent decades in prison. But just a few years ago, the Oregon Court of Appeals tossed out his conviction. Prosecutors charged him again, but the ruling left them without key testimony from the original trial. Now Larsen's family is awaiting a second verdict in the case after going through another murder trial, and they're afraid that Oatney could be released this time.
