Description
Joel Miller saw it happen right outside his Albina neighborhood home.
"A guy pulled up and took the bike out and set it right there," he said.
It’s a white bike with a dove, a peace symbol and a flower on it.
"I'm out for peace. Love. Laughter. Joy," said the artist who placed the bike there. Musician, puppeteer and artist Dr. Nik has placed eight bikes in public places around Portland
The trouble is that some people think Nik's Peace Bikes look like Ghost Bikes, which mark where a cyclist was hit and killed.
"I know about Ghost Bikes, and I sympathize totally with all the comments that have been made. And I apologize to everybody," said Dr. Nik.
Nik had a somewhat different message in mind — a message of love and joy. He’s now removing all his "Spectacle for Peace" bikes.
