Description
Andie Proskus is delivering a shipment of cozy socks to the Ronald McDonald House in Northeast Portland.
"It helps distract from everything else going on," she said. "Something as simple as a fun, colorful pair of socks really does bring smiles and helps make a difference."
Proskus knows this firsthand. Her own neuromuscular disease has required a number of surgeries, and she once received her own small gift.
"A volunteer came around with a pair of socks that were colorful and brought me a smile," she recalled.
Now Proskus asks for donations of little things like these socks, then picks them up and delivers them to places like the Ronald McDonald house, where they can bring comfort to children going through the healing process.
“It's very therapeutic for me," she said. "No matter how many I collect, I know that that is going to make a difference."
Proskus said that during long-term treatments, her sock drive provides comfort that heals.
To support Andie Proskus' sock drive, you can purchase socks from her Amazon list here: https://youtu.be/Hktv-KymLNg
