Description
More than 60 people from 22 different countries became U.S. citizens Thursday morning at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinville, Ore. This was the first time the event had been held inside the museum since the pandemic.
It can take several years to become a citizen. Part of the ceremony included reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and taking an oath.
Maria Cruz moved to the United States from Mexico 22 years ago and became a citizen on Thursday.
“It’s a privilege and a responsibility taking the oath,” Cruz said. “I take it very seriously.”
