Description
There's quite a story of pioneers and history in Clackamas County. Charlotte Lehan is president of the Pleasant View Cemetery Association. "It goes back to probably the 1840s. One of the oldest cemeteries around."
She's sharing the extensive renovations made here with members of the OR Commission of Historic Cemeteries. They work to improve and maintain all Oregon historic cemeteries.
Once, vandals ran over the cemetery. "The base on all of these were broken in the 80s."
With Halloween coming up, it’s scary times for historic cemeteries. Pleasant View thinks welcoming people in is good for security. "It discourages more nefarious activity if you have regular traffic. I think of cemeteries as an expression of great love."
