Description
Former U.S. Representative Les Aucoin is at his alma mater Pacific University to donate his collection of historical materials as an Oregon politician.
"It's a 25-year record of idealism and action," Aucoin said during the event.
Aucoin is proud of many things he had a part in, including the Oregon Bottle Bill, the MAX light rail projects and the protection of Oregon's natural places.
"The Oregon Wilderness Bill and the Wildland Scenic Rivers Bill, which preserves just priceless lands. That was a pretty nice thing to get done," he said.
Aucoin also passed bills that reinstated federal recognition of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, established the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge, and he fought for anti-nuclear proliferation.
