Description
Did you know certain leisure activities like crossword puzzles, learning a new language or reading a book can actually help strengthen your brain? Local researchers say it can also reduce the chances you'll develop brain diseases like Alzheimer's. Doctor Jeff Kaye is a neurologist at OHSU and oversees their Alzheimer's Disease Center. He wants people to know - everyone can work toward a healthier and sharper brain. Studies show certain hobbies really do help. “Leisure time activities can reduce the risk of developing dementia," says Dr. Kaye. “It maintains machinery and keeps [your brain] in good operating order, that's kind of one way to think about it.”
