Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury and Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler spoke at a news conference Friday afternoon and discussed the ongoing response to the heat wave and strategies for Portlanders to stay safe. Overnight cooling shelters in Portland and throughout Multnomah County will stay open through Sunday morning as the ongoing heat wave heads into a brutal final stretch, with temperatures forecasted to potentially top 100 degrees on Friday and Saturday.
