Description
Two days before it goes on display to pilgrims, the ‘Holy Tunic of Christ,’ the garment claimed to be worn by Jesus during his crucifixion, according to Christian tradition, is taken from its reliquary at the Basilica of Argenteuil. Some 400,000 people, including the Vatican's second-in-command, are expected until May 11 to go on a pilgrimage to the Basilica for the exhibition of the relic. “The restoration has held up well, and the fragments of the original tunic are in good condition,” says Claire Beugnot, restorer.
