Five years after the pandemic, school districts across the country continue to grapple with the lingering effects of supply chain shortages. In northern Colorado, the Poudre School District faced a particularly unique challenge: finding enough school buses. While the district had been waiting on new buses, the district's vehicle maintenance manager and his team decided to think outside the box. “One of my team members approached me with a bus he saw on Craigslist. I kind of chuckled and said obviously we’re not going to buy a bus off Craigslist,” Dan Weaver said. “But when I pulled it up and found a 2013 model with only 80,000 miles on it, I realized it could be a real option.” The bus, which the district purchased for $13,500, was a far cry from the usual, estimated $150,000 price tag.
