Description
Arctic cold and snow are here and will stay for the next couple of days.
The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert through Thursday morning while frigid cold temperatures and snow are in Colorado.
After a dusting to an inch of snow around the metro area early Tuesday, Colorado will stay bitterly cold Tuesday with light snow. Air temperatures will struggle to hit 20° on Tuesday, while light snow may add another dusting or so of additional accumulation through the day.
Steadier, heavier snow moves in between 3-7 p.m. Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night from north-to-south, and that push will lead to the majority of our snow from this system.
The Denver area will see 3-6 inches of snow by sunrise on Wednesday, with higher amounts likely in the foothills, where some spots could see 10 inches of total snowfall.
A Winter Weather Advisory covers most of the Front Range, eastern plains and Denver metro area from 2 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The end of Tuesday evening's commute and all of Wednesday morning's commute looks rough, especially in the foothills. Try and leave work early Tuesday evening if you can.
